A Little About Me

Name's Ally. Nice to meet you.

To tell you a little about me, I suppose I should start with where I'm from. I grew up in the smallest county in Indiana, both by land area and by population. While the town where I attended high school is known in the Cincinnati area as, "Oh, that's where the casino is," I actually lived about 25 minutes out of town. So to say I'm a small-town girl is a bit of an understatement.

After graduation I set my sights on Ball State and never looked back. I majored in Public Relations and earned a load of experience and discovered what I like most - writing. I've become embarrassingly obsessed with AP style - thank you Journalism School - and I am a self-described word nerd. I have a style all my own that dances the fine line of sarcasm and cynicism, usually with a touch of both. Somehow, I still managed to make friends in college.

Four of the best years of my life were spent in Cardinal Red (and Silver & Bordeaux, for those who know), and most of that time passed while meeting the most talented and genuine group of people I'm happy to call my family.

One of the last of those, but certainly not the least of those, was my husband, Darrell.  We met just a few short months before graduation, starting the next chapter of my life. And now that the beautiful chaos of planning a wedding is over, I'm making this blog the next.

And that brings me to now. I'm a newly(ish) married 20-something working downtown Cincinnati. I live with my husband, Darrell and two of the coolest dogs you've never met, Cooper and Lambeau. I'm what you could call a Cincinnati Southsider (meaning I live in Northern Kentucky) and I'm enjoying every minute of rediscovering the Greater Cincinnati area through the eyes of an adult. I'm remembering how to love my small-town roots and reconnecting with some old friends. And of course, I'm writing again.

So no, I don't have an incredibly interesting point of view on some obscure topic. And no, I don't have a mission outlined within these pages (at least, not yet). In fact, the whole point is that from here on out, my life is undetermined - I have no greater plan other than to write for the sake of writing. But I do hope you enjoy reading what I manage to post to this blog - be it food, life, dog or marriage related.

And please, for the love of all that is grammatically correct: if you see an error, let me know!
